Loneliness and social isolation are known risk factors for various health and related problems among older people.
Respite Care is an essential service that enables the elderly and people with disabilities to improve their social connectedness and create meaningful relationships and connections.
Respite also provides the opportunity for carers to take a much-needed break from the pressures and obligations of their role.
Why are we collecting funds?
We are hoping to address the issues of social isolation, loneliness and access to transport amongst elderly people in our region. Funds collected will enable our clients to have access to daily social activities, meals and a transport service.
How the funds will be used/what can you do?
Support Inala Respite Care and give the gift of friendship.
We will use your donation to:
- Fund social activities and programs
- Support our overnight respite program
- Assist with running costs for our daily door to door transport service
- Assist with our community engagement program to educate the Brisbane South region regarding the issues of social isolation, loneliness, mobility and the mental health issues relating to loss of independence amongst the elderly.
